We use strong, standard encryption — TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest. Your connection is secure. Your files are encrypted on disk.
But we don't do end-to-end encryption for email and files. Here's why: E2E means the server can never touch your data. That kills search across your emails and AI features on your documents — things we want to offer you down the road.
If you need military-grade privacy, Proton is excellent and we genuinely recommend them. But if you want a personal cloud that's yours, portable, and stays useful — that's us.
Exception: your passwords ARE end-to-end encrypted. We literally cannot see them.
